Transparency International Ethiopia organized a training session for court presidents, judges, and colleagues in the Sidama region. The training aimed to equip first-instance court presidents, judges, and colleagues with the knowledge and skills to adhere to high standards of independence, fairness, impartiality, integrity, accountability, and transparency. Mr. Biniyam Solomon, the Hawassa Area High Court President, opened the session and welcomed the participants, briefly explaining the purpose of the event.

Mr. Woyessa Woka, the Sidama regional representative of TIE, delivered the training. He concluded by recommending practical ways to combat judicial corruption to ensure that the judiciary retains its time-honored tradition of integrity and good image. He also underlined that the war against corruption in the judiciary/courts should be holistic and target not only judges but also any employee in the judiciary engaged in corrupt practices.

Mr. Biniyam Solomon, President of Hawassa Area High Court in Sidama region, collaborated with the trainers during the practical session. He noted, during his concluding remarks, that the eradication of corruption from the justice system is a joint task involving not only judges and members of the legal profession but literally all stakeholders, including all branches of government, the media, and civil society. He appreciated Transparency International Ethiopia for taking such an initiative and called for similar initiatives to continue.

Finally, Mr. Woyessa expressed appreciation to Mr. Biniyam Solomon, all participants, and colleagues who played a pivotal role in facilitating and organizing the event.
