Google apps on LineageOS
Since LineageOS debuted, it has always been offering vanilla builds, which doesn’t include Google services, giving users the pure clean Android experience. If you would like to use Google services on the ROM, it is possible to do by flashing Google app packages.
There are several Google app packages offered by the communities, but according to the official LineageOS wiki, the team recommends MindTheGapps for LineageOS 15.1 (Android 8.1) and later version. For LineageOS 13.0 & LineageOS 14.1, the team recommends users to get OpenGapps, since MindTheGapps doesn't have packages for these older versions.
Fun fact, these two packages are actually provided by developers from LineageOS, hence they are guaranteed to work well with LineageOS and cause minor to no issues. From the team perspective, they emphasise there won’t be support provided as their predecessor, CyanogenMod has been sued by Google for including it earlier, hence it is very unlikely for them to start including it again. That’s also the reason they won’t be making SafetyNet passing by default too.
Anyway, installing Google services on LineageOS is very simple. Just boot up custom recovery (like Lineage Recovery, steps below applied to it), select “Apply Update”, then “Apply from ADB”, on your computer, type out
That’s the recommended way to install Google services onto your device with LineageOS, Of course, if you know the other ways to get Google apps, you can do so but there won’t be any sort of support provided.

adb sideload filename.zip
. This step is usually done after you have just installed LineageOS on the recovery and before booting it for the first time, and depending on your device, you might have to reboot recovery in order to continue flashing add-ons like Google apps for example. LineageOS Contributors
LineageOS is a custom ROM project with thousands of contributors. There's one page where you can check out all the contributors of LineageOS, it is located over at Settings > About Phone > Contributors.
Core team members are featured in the middle part of the logo, while the rest are listed elsewhere. These people usually include several device maintainers, translators and committers, which have made changes to the project instead of just using it.
The contributors cloud is usually updated 2~3 times a year on supported LineageOS versions. As of March 20 (7:02 UTC), there are a total of 2,228 contributors with over 120k commits being merged. This number is actually pretty impressive for a custom ROM project.
From a normal user perspective, it's definitely something extraordinary, sure, but the ROM you are using today is built up by the community, and the contributors cloud is a way to thank all these people. Without them, the ROM wouldn't have stand up till today.
Additionally, when I saw some people who have managed to make it into the list, they feel proud of themselves. Yeah, it isn't an easy job to enter the contributors list, becoming a device maintainer simply won't make you appear over there for your information.
Anyway at last, congrats to those who have entered the list, you will always be remembered by the LineageOS community, the largest and notable Android custom ROM distribution project.

#Tips
Trebuchet: Imperfection Launcher
A type of catapult that uses a long arm to throw a projectile.
LineageOS Trebuchet is capable of what most launchers could do. Basic features are pretty much all there. You could enable Google Discover feed if you had wanted. The launcher itself offers various types of grid sizes, from 2x2 to 5x5, with larger options 5x6, 5x7 and 6x6.
It also lets you use custom icon packs, hide apps from displaying in the app launcher and protect apps with lock screen authentication. Besides, you can choose to disable labels on your home screen or app drawer.
The whole launcher isn't bad to use, everything works well, but sadly, it lacks "dynamic icons" support. For example, the date is updated every day and if you have a Calendar app, you expect it to change it to the corresponding date.
If you had like to use it on other ROMs, the launcher does support QuickSwitch integration, so you get all the goodies just like one who has already flash LineageOS.
