A vulnerability in Pixel's Markup tool lets you recover the original photo from an edited screenshot
Source
Twitter users @ItsSimonsTime and @David3141593 have discovered a critical flaw in Google's screenshot editing tool, Markup.
Screenshots edited before March can be partially recovered to see how the unedited photo looked like to reveal sensitive information.
The exploit only works with the original PNG files, with apps like Discord or Instagram being affected as many convert your photos to JPG.
The issue affects Pixel devices and Custom ROMs with the Markup tool running Android 10 or newer.
It has been fixed with the March security patch update and you can check if your screenshots work using https://acropalypse.app
We will be making a part two of this post when more information will be available.

Pixel 1 + LineageOS: One year time
It's been nearly a year since I started to run this as a co-LineageOS channel. I don't know if you guys found it useful or not, at least in my case it did.
Ever since I tried to announce this channel's existence by posting LineageOS changes, a few people seemed to be interested and started to share it with their communities, probably not much but just as off what I could realise, recent subscribers don't really own a Pixel 1/XL.
The idea of making this is all due to my passionate love for the project and Pixel 1 channel being mostly dead with just LineageOS update posts, so I wonder why not try something new by merging them. Separating them could be better, after all that means more people can easily access this particular channel by searching, but well, I guess just let it be a secret passage and let people discover it themselves.
I don't know if there are anyone out there doing something similar, but it would be nice to see if there's one, tell us in the chat if you manage to find one. You are always welcome to join in the conversation, I really hope someone can just bring it back to life.
You can probably see for yourself, there aren't a lot of groundbreaking changes happening with LineageOS, so there isn't a lot of stuff we could post to make you guys excited about it. Anyway, let's see how many of you guys are here for the LineageOS news in the poll below. Thanks for all of your support!

Pixel 1 + LineageOS: The end
Just an update regarding the current situation, you probably saw it by yourself, this channel has been flooded with LineageOS contents over the past year, and some people just advised me to stop running it, as the poll clearly suggested,
Originally this was meant to give other subscribers apart from Pixel 1 to learn something about LineageOS, as the announcement of the project excited many people, but not long after all people got bored of reading long texts and it's more like an obsolete post in the channel.
After listening to that advice many times over and over again, I decided to ultimately stop the whole project on its 1st year anniversary. Yeah, I could actually create a few more posts on some important changes but it isn't worth the time to do so, and no one really seems to be interested, so this wrote an ending for all these dramas.
If you are one of the people who came to follow this channel for LineageOS contents, thanks for being part of the journey. If anyone is willing to learn more about LineageOS, just tap the pinned message and check out all those posts any time you want. All the latest changes could be checked over at their download portal website and Gerrit if interested.
Going forward major changes about LineageOS with relation to Pixel devices will be posted on @PixelHubUpdates, so give that a follow in case if you haven't. Archival of LineageOS builds will continue as usual.

📁 LineageOS 16.0 Last Official Build Archive for Pixel & Pixel XL
While Pixel 1 continues to receive LineageOS 18.1 monthly updates, some might want to try out older LineageOS versions, which I did at least. The creation of this channel only happened at late 2020, and we manage to archive only Android 10 & 11 builds for the device.
Earlier while I was trying to find further archival LineageOS builds, I came across some websites which did the job, but none of the builds are for Pixel 1, or at least it's not downloadable. After a few weeks' time, it's available and I immediately went to archive it, and later scheduled it on this channel.
Actually, LineageOS supported the first generation of Pixel devices since version 15.1, I tried my best to search all the corners, but couldn't find an archival build for it. If anyone has one, I hope you could share it. That's all for now.

Pixel 1/XL Owners Yearly Check-Up
Yet another year and wanted to research how many users still actually use a Pixel or Pixel XL. It's been nearly seven and a half years since the Pixel released. Just a little pity this device could only run up to Android 11 while older devices from other communities are able to run Android 13.
Not going to write much over here, I mean literally nothing to write about this community due to lack of development, but just vote down below in the poll whether you are still using the device or not.

Smartphones these days… #Blog
So I have discussed this earlier in my LineageOS review post, which is the definition of phone. I still remember in the early days, I tried to replicate the feels & looks of a Pixel, trying to unlock exclusive Pixel features, then later lost interest in it and used it as a normal phone, and reduced the need of third-party software, all of these happened in just four years time.
Yeah, after all, we need a phone in order to communicate with others at first, the extra functionality isn't really that necessary, although it’s nice to have. After all, we can do the same thing, call, text, browse the Internet, listen to music, and watch videos… you name it. Why even bother with more features at this point? And also ask yourself, do you even use those special features frequently?
Let’s give an example over here. With the Pixel 7 series announced, there is this one new feature called Photo Unblur. Ok, that’s definitely cool but then let’s ask ourselves, are we going to frequently use that particular feature? I personally won’t just transfer all the old photos and just use that, also sometimes the old vibes are kind of better too.
After all, phones bring us a lot of convenience to our life. If you are in this community, you are basically a tech geek, knowing how to take advantage of your phone further, but yeah, depending on your preference and opinion, you either wanted something that has many features or something that is clean and usable. Your own phone, your own choice. Last words from me: “As long as the phone is usable, it’s fine.”
*If any of you are interested to post your opinions regarding any Google products or related topics such as smartphones or apps, just feel free to tell us in the group. A short paragraph will do, it doesn’t have to be very long. I don’t think anyone will still be interested in it but anyway, I personally have some stuff to share out, so this will be a thing for a while on this channel. Thanks for your understanding.

Google Pixel with LineageOS (ChatGPT) #Blog
Earlier someone suggested to use ChatGPT to write out things for me. It is a great tool for sure, but what it couldn't replace entirely is your writing styles, vibes & personal feelings. Sometimes mistakes could still happen, so eventually I have to go through the whole text and check whether there is anything wrong. I also like writing, so it's better for me to just write it out naturally like I used to do.
Anyway, text written below this paragraph is completed by ChatGPT itself. Overall it did a great job, except a very few minor mistakes here and there. The most obvious one will be overclocking CPU, which is definitely not part of the criteria in LineageOS at all. Main post starts right here:
Google Pixel devices are known for their clean, fast and user-friendly stock Android experience. However, some users prefer a more customisable and open-source option. That's where LineageOS comes in. LineageOS is a popular custom ROM that is based on the open-source Android operating system. It offers a range of features and customisations not found on the stock Android experience.
LineageOS was initially released as CyanogenMod and was one of the most popular custom ROMs available. After CyanogenMod was discontinued, the development team behind it continued to work on the project and released LineageOS, which has since become one of the most popular custom ROMs available.
Google Pixel devices are a great choice for LineageOS due to their good hardware and software support. The Google Pixel devices are known for their fast performance and great camera capabilities, and these features are further improved with the LineageOS custom ROM.
LineageOS for Google Pixel devices offers several enhancements and customisations compared to the stock Android experience. One of the main advantages of LineageOS is the ability to customise the look and feel of the device through custom themes and wallpapers. Users can also customise the status bar, navigation bar and quick settings tiles to their liking. Additionally, LineageOS offers several performance enhancements, such as the ability to overclock the CPU, which can result in a noticeable increase in performance.
Another advantage of LineageOS on Google Pixel devices is the inclusion of several privacy and security features. LineageOS includes the ability to encrypt the device, enable a password or pattern lock, and enable a secure lock screen. These features provide users with peace of mind, knowing that their personal data and information are protected.
Overall, LineageOS is a great option for Google Pixel users who want a more customisable and open-source experience. The enhancements and customisations available on LineageOS provide users with a unique and personalised experience, while still retaining the fast performance and great camera capabilities of the Google Pixel devices.
