Exams are a result of the global PISA rankings where countries are compared academically and then cities, schools, teachers and eventually children. It’s a failed system.
Exams only test what the teacher told you which is the tiniest proportion of what the child knows, what they’ve learned and how much they’ve achieved.
They certainly cannot test your confidence, resilience, persistence, empathy etc. which are all of the skills the best companies are looking for and all the skills that are impossible to teach or test.
They can only be experienced and refined through a prepared learning environment that caters for educating the whole child and a system that does not buy into the global educational hamster wheel of competition.
Whilst exams exist, we will continue to teach our children towards passing them and that’s the biggest failure.
