Andragogy, tailored for adult learners, emphasises active involvement and self-directed learning, encouraging learners to draw on their experiences and take responsibility for their learning goals.

Heutagogy, a newer concept, emphasises learner autonomy and self-determined learning, allowing learners to design their own learning experiences and determine content, process, and evaluation. It emphasises critical thinking, reflection, and self-assessment, recognising learning is a lifelong process and promoting self-directed learning skills.

This is always worth a read. In fact, maybe it should be mandatory reading for all educator leaders and policy makers. It is an interesting experiment in relevancy-checking to match the current curriculum non-negotiables with what the future requirements for our students will be. Are we equipping them for success? Perhaps, but we probably need to work harder to be proactive rather than re-active when it comes to our education strategies in general.
