First of all, wish you all a very Happy World Tourism Day!!! Writing this post a little late, because we were too busy celebrating WTD yesterday.
Tourism is not just a sector of the economy or merely a thing of leisure. After working in this sector for almost an year as Director, Rajasthan Tourism, I have got an opportunity to have a 360 degree view of this sector and it’s ancillary activities.
Tourism is the engine of inclusive growth, as well as a window to the natural and cultural heritage of a place or a region.
Tourism doesn’t merely mean visiting the tourist destinations, it is more of experiencing the local life and culture.
If I start preparing a list of tourism products, it’s going to be endless!
For example:
Forts and Palaces
Havelis, Cenotaphs and Step-wells
Forest and Wildlife
Desert and Lakes
Art and Crafts
Cuisines
Temples and Architecture
Folk Music and Dances
Museums
Adventure activities
Royal weddings
Rural and Tribal Life
Living traditions
Fairs and Festivals
and so on……
So, today, let’s appreciate the diversity of amazing tourism products. Let’s also understand the whole hospitality sector which generates employment to locals at even distant places through its various units like; hotels, restaurants, home stays, guest houses, hotel management institutes, tour operators and Guides.
अब जब भी कहीं घूमने जाएँ तो उस जगह को केवल घूमें नहीं, उसे उसकी स्थानीय संस्कृति के साथ पूर्णता में महसूस करें!
