Salam , I'm Aziza, I'm a 6th year medical student studying at Ahfad University For Women!
I remember those days during the first wave of COVID-19, I had intentions to learn about researches, "put in mind that I hate Community medicine and research community in general 💔😂
I thought it was difficult and complicated, at that time I had to submit my thesis for the MBBS requirements, and that's basically why I wanted to learn about researches 😆.
One day, I found a poster for biostatistics workshop, provided by medstat company, and I said to myself, EXACTLY THAT'S WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR!
On the first day at the workshop I thought I was too out of what they're talking about, especially everyone there was interested and interactive 🌚 , but with days I found that it was me who's complicating the whole thing, and the next step I did, I applied for the rest of the workshops thinking I would get better, and I did!
Most of the students think that the practical part of researches is difficult, while it is easy and fun !
We need to get rid of all these misunderstandings and raise awareness about community medicine.
At that time, I really liked medstat community, because they never wanted to gain money, yet their goal was to educate students and postgraduates about researches and their value.
I applied for company's ambassadors and alhamdullah I got accepted, not to mention I have a very existed team working with me, and it gets bigger every day.
Lastly, I want to convey a message to every student, that researches are not that hard, and I hope everyone good luck !
And yeah by the way, the whole research idea is addictive! 😂 the moment you get in , you won't get out ! 😂

أليكساندرا البيكيان مبرمجة كمبيوتر كازاخستانية أسست موقع Sci-Hub ، وهو موقع بوفر وصول مجاني للأوراق البحثية حتى لو كانت مدفوعة بي كسر لي قوانين حقوق النشر.

أليكساندرا البيكيان مبرمجة كمبيوتر كازاخستانية أسست موقع Sci-Hub ، وهو موقع بوفر وصول مجاني للأوراق البحثية حتى لو كانت مدفوعة بي كسر لي قوانين حقوق النشر.
البيكان درست أمن معلومات في الجامعة التقنية الوطنية في كازخستان وأثناء دراستها وعمل الماجستير لاحظت المعاناة البواجهها أي باحث عشان يصل للأوراق البحثية المغلقة لأنو يا إما تطلبها من الباحث الكاتبها في الإيميل أو تدفع للموقع الناشرها وممكن ثمن الورقة يصل لي ٣٠ دولار أو أكتر ففي ٢٠١١ عملت البيكان الموقع وفيهو ٤٨ مليون ورقة ومقال علمي.
البيكان من مناصرين الوصول الحر open access اللي بيدعو لحرية الوصول عبر النت للإنتاج الفكري زي الأطروحات والمجلات والدراسات فعملت sci-hub ، وفي سنة ٢٠١١ براها الموقع سجل بليون تنزيل (اي ياهو الواحد ومعاهو ٩ أصفار 😂) ، وكدا البيكان برهنت إنها ساعدت على نشر الوعى وسهلت البحوث لكن ما زال Sci-Hub موضوع جدلي عميق، يعني أي زول متفق إنو العلم مفروض يتوفر مجانا لكل زول لكن أصلا في منظمات قايمة بالمبادرة دي زي research for live والبتوفر ٩٠ ألف ورقة مجانا أو بمبلغ بسيط للدول المحتاجة، لأنو Sci-Hub مفتوح لكل العالم فحتى الما محتاج ممكن ينزل منو ودا سبب خسارة لي مجلات النشر مثلا في ٢٠١٧ حكمت المحكمة لصالح Elsevier، بتغريم Sci-Hub ١٥ مليون دولار كتعويض!
بين توفير البحوث والعلم مجانا وحفظ حقوق الناشرين زي ما أي كاتب ليهو حقوق بيقع Sci-Hub في دوامة القبول والرفض..

Alexandra Albikyan is a Kazakh computer programmer who founded Sci-Hub, a site that provides free access to research papers even if they are closed by the paywall.
Al-Bikan studied information security at the National Technical University in Kazakhstan, and during her studies and doing a master's degree, she noticed the suffering that any researcher faced in order to reach the closed research papers because you either ask the researcher to write them in the e-mail or pay the publisher site, and the price of the paper could reach me $ 30 or more. In 2011, the alBikan made sci hub which contain 48 million papers and scientific articles.
AlBikan is one of the advocates of open access, who advocates free access via the internet for intellectual production such as theses, magazines and studies, and in 2011, the site reached one billion downloads .

The importance of scientific researches is increasing, and the whole world is now racing to develop in all sciences through research, which consided to be the main tool to answer questions in all fields.
Most of the problems that face medical field students when it comes to biostatistics is all about lack of awareness, yet i might specifically spot light then failure of finding the perfect measure of the study.
Take home message:
" Best mind is the mind that never ceases searching about knowledge"
Take the researches in the eye of consideration, and try to seek it as early as possible !

My name is Manasik Mamoun I am a fifth year medical student studying at Neelain University. I am 21 and I love reading. I have heard about Medstat from Facebook there was a give away and my friend wanted it so I helped her rallying up likes😂. While doing so I went through their page and realised that it is a Sudanese company 😍 started by people who are about my age, it made me really proud 😂. So when I saw the application form for ambassadors I thought of it as chance to be part of this effort to advocate research in Sudan.
I have never heard anyone saying that statistics is their favourite subject 😂 math is genuinely a pain for most people. Students go to medical schools expecting disease and treatment and they find that's a really small part of the story😂😂😂😂😂
Statistics course in specific is given in a hurry and out of context. I think that's partly the reason of indifference.
During the period I worked with Medstat I realised, and for the first time in my life, that people don't see the importance of research! They don't understand why they in specific should conduct it, for most students it is seen as a burden, an extra homework they are forced to do to graduate. As known well the aim of research is to answer a question or acquire knowledge, this alone is a trophy for me. I love learning hehe. But speaking in more general terms, research is the most trusted source of information, EVIDENCE! In order to treat or prevent a disease, aka the most basic definition of medical or paramedical job, you need research!
Are you testing a new treatment? Planning or implementing policies? comparing current protocols? or trying to discover trends? You need research!
You want to travel outside Sudan and have an advantage over other peers applying for the same position? You need research!
The current promotion guidelines depends on the number of research you conduct 😂 so even if you are planning to take an academical line, you need RESEARCH!
I can't emphasis the importance of research enough today, everywhere you look nothing is taken lightly. Evidence based medicine is the direction, if we want to keep up 😂 you need research!
