📘📕Verbs followed by ‘ing’ or by ‘to + infinitive’ ..

When one verb is followed by another, the second verb can either be an infinitive or an , ing form.

📘Some verbs can be followed by either an infinitive, or an ; ing form but with a change in meaning.

📕These are some of the most common ones.

📕📘like..

I like watching old films on TV.

With an ‘ing’ form, ‘like’ means ‘enjoy’..

I like to wash up as soon as I finish eating...

I might not enjoy washing up; but I think it’s the right thing to do..

📘Remember that ‘would like’ can only be followed by an infinitive.

I’d like to go to Iran next year, if possible..

@LearnbyEnglishlearners

📘📕try..

I’m trying to learn English; but it’s very difficult..

📘Try + to + infinitive means that something is difficult and you make an attempt to do it.

Have you tried using butter instead of oil?

📘Try + ‘ing’ means make an experiment. It’s not difficult ; it might work, it might not.

@LearnbyEnglishlearners

📘📕Stop.

Stop + ‘ing’ tells us what has stopped. in this example, buying a newspaper.

I’ve stopped buying a newspaper every day to try to save money.

📘Stop + to + infinitive tells us why something stopped. In this example the reason that the bus stopped was to pick up the children.

The bus stopped to pick up the children.

📘Remember /forget

Don’t forget to post that letter for me.
Did you remember to post that letter for me?

📘Remember/forget + to + infinitive means that you remember something you have to do – a duty or a chore.

I’ll always remember meeting you for the first time.

I’ll never forget meeting you for the first time.

📘Remember/forget + ‘ing’ form means remember something you did in the past an event or an activity.

📕📘Come apart..

جدا شدن
کنترل خود را از دست دادن ..

Come apart means separated, So 'come apart' basically means something falls apart or is destroyed. So, for example, my shirt, if somebody pulls on it, it will come apart. it will fall apart.

📘📕But we can also talk about a person's emotions.
So, if a person has just come apart, it means he or she lost control. They just lost their emotional control, or maybe they're having a nervous breakdown, but we say they've come apart, they've lost control, like their emotional insides are destroyed.

The cookie was so soft that it just came apart in my hands.

Poor Jane really came apart during the funeral service.

As VS. Like

📕📘What is the difference between As and Like?

As and Like can be very confusing for many English learners. Today, I'm going to explain how they're different.

📕📘 As
Proposition/Conjunction

As may function as a preposition and is used when we talk about a job or function.

📘 I work as a cook.
📕He used my pen as a weapon.

As may also be used as a conjunction meaning "In the same way that..."

📕She behaved as her teacher told her.
📘 Walk just as I do.

📕📘 Like
Proposition/Conjunction

Like may be used as preposition meaning similar to. It is used to compare things.

📘He worked like a dog.
📕 She sings just like her mom.

Like is often used in place of the subordinating conjunction "as, or as if".

📘They look like they've been fighting. = They look as if they've been fighting.

Difference between "the same"  and "the same as"

The same as 👇

📕If something is happening the same as something else, the two things are happening in a way that is similar or exactly the same. I mean, it's a relationship, the same as a marriage is a relationship. 📘Doing a job well is notthe same as spending a lot of time on it.

📘اگر بعد از ترکیب the same کلمه as به کار رود ترکیب the same as به معنی شبیه و مانند است و مترادف like .

Your shoes are the same as mine
کفش هاتون مثل مال منه ..

@LearnbyEnglishlearners

The same 👇
📕similarly; in the same way..

The same + noun + as
📕از این ترکیب میتوان مثل صفت برابر برای هماهنگی دو اسم استفاده کرد. باید دقت کنید بعد از the same همیشه اسم وجود دارد و نمیتوان صفت بکار برد . و صفت رو باید به اسم تبدیل کرد.

Helen is as old as Susan. 📕Helen is the same age as Susan.
