The active ingredient in Actilyse is alteplase. It belongs to a group of medicines called as thrombolytic agents. These drugs dissolve blood clots that have formed in blood vessels. Actilyse is used to treat a range of conditions that are caused by blood clots that form in the blood vessels, such as: - Heart attack caused by blood clots in the arteries of the heart (myocardial infarction) - Blood clots in the pulmonary artery (pulmonary embolism) - Stroke caused by a blood clot in an artery of the brains (acute ischemic stroke)
