We had mostly high level speakers of English today, which is really amazing and also beneficial for the participants who were not able to speak, but listened actively and patiently to the ideas. Languages are always interesting topic to discuss! Today’s discussion was also very engaging. It’s been pleasure to talk to the people who study the language because they think it is something they are good at, and at the same time I have enjoyed listening to the insights by people who have extensive experience in studying languages. Thank you very much for sharing your time😊
#Collocation #daily #family 🔶Extended family - includes all your relatives - uncles, cousins, great-aunts, etc. 🖍I see my extended family once a year, during our annual family vacation. 🔶Carefree childhood - that means you had nothing to worry about when you were young. 🖍John had a carefree childhood, growing up with happily married parents and three brothers. 🔶On good terms with each other - meaning to have a polite relationship without conflicts. 🖍I'm on good terms with my ex-husband. 🔶Dysfunctional family - a family in which the relationships are bad or unhealthy. 🖍The celebrity wrote about his dysfunctional family. 🔶Close-knit family - a family that has good relationships, where everyone loves each other and helps each other. 🖍I was raised in a very close-knit family, in which everyone helped each other.
#Reading_practice Look around on your next plane trip. The iPad is the new pacifier for babies and toddlers. Younger school-aged children read stories on smartphones; older kids don’t read at all, but hunch over video games. Parents and other passengers read on tablets or skim a flotilla of email and news feeds. Unbeknown to most of us, an invisible, game-changing transformation links everyone in this picture: the neuronal circuit that underlies the brain’s ability to read is subtly, rapidly changing and this has implications for everyone from the pre-reading toddler to the expert adult.

Kichkina yangilik o’qiymizmi, maqola, hikoya yoki asar, bugun bularning hammasini mobil telefoningiz, tablet yoki noutbugingiz orqali o’qishingiz mumkin. Buni qarangki, tadqiqotlarga ko’ra, bunaqa usulda o’qish odatiy usulda o’qishdan ancha farqlari bor ekan. Bir tadqiqotda, o’quvchilarga hikoya berilib bitta guruh hikoyani tabletdan o’qishgan, ikkinchi guruh esa an’anaviy kitoblardan. An’anaviy kitobdan o’qigan ikkinchi guruh vakillari hikoyadagi detallarni eslab qolish va uni ketma-ketligini gapirib berishda birinchi guruh o’quvchilari, tabletlardan o’qigan o’quvchilardan yaxshi natija ko’rsatishgan. Bizning bugungi o’qish uslubimiz bizni miyamizni ham ma’lumot qabul qilish xususiyatlarini o’zgartirar ekan. Bugun ko’proq matnlarga yengil-yelpi, tez-tez ko’z yugurtirib chiqish normal holat bo’lib qoldi. Buning negativ oqibatlari haqida ham tekstda aytib o’tilgan. Official Cambridge test 16, Reading test 4, passage 2da hammasi yanada to’liqroq berilgan.

Nimaga ko'pchilik o'quvchilar IELTS reading passage 3da qiynalishlariga ham shu passageni o'qish orqali javob olsa bo'ladi. Passage 3, passage 1-2dan farqli ravishda, shunchaki savoldagi kalit so'zlarni belgilab, tekstdagi sinonimlar orqali javobini topishni emas, balki to'g'ridan to'gri aytilmagan lekin ishora qilingan fikrlarni tushunish va tahlil qilishni talab qiladi. Ba'zida yozuvchining ma'lum bir paragrafda nima demoqchiligini (What is the writer's main point in this paragraph) topish uchun sinonimlar ham kamlik qiladi va sizni paragrafni mazmunini xulosalay olish ko'nikmangiz ko'p narsani hal qiladi.
#Collocation #daily #Relationships 🔶Make friends - to become friends, sometimes when you move a new city, it can be hard to make friends. 📌They made friends with the children next door. 🔶Casual acquaintances / friendships - people who you know on a basic level, but with whom you don't have a significant relationship. 📌He described himself as a casual acquaintance of the local MP. 🔶Soul mate - this is a poetic expression that means that two people are destined to be together. 📌Later that year she met Adam and she knew instantly that they were soul mates. 🔶He's/she's just not my type - meaning that they are interested in people of a different type of personality/ appearance. 📌Joe's nice, but he's not really my type. 🔶Happily married - the couples whose marriage is good, live in a happy way. 📌He was happily married with two young children.

Like many of you, my first idea was bread, but on a second thought I was more more convinced that it is a coffee bean, and I WAS RIGHT.I've seen the correct answer in the comments as well. Thank you! A good job 👍👍👍
🔰Before we kick off the IELTS speaking discussion, let me introduce the rules of the chat.
1 As the amount of time of the discussion is limited, only prepared students are advised to participate.
2 Only speaking part 1 questions will be asked and each speaker is allocated around 5-6 minutes.
3 Make sure that you have stable internet connection and check your voice system e.g. a microphone, speakers. In case I am not able to hear a speaker clearly, I will have to mute them and allow next candidate to speak.
I hope everything is clear with the requirements. See you in the chat at 9 p.m! 😊

All of the participants have done a great job today! I like the way they are trying to be natural as much as possible. Thinking, pausing and hesitating are natural part of a speech. This can happen even when you talk in your native language. The bottom line is you keep talking and trying to walk through your listener. Finally, the students who didn't have their chance today, you'll be first on my list next time👌

Prezident bo’lsang o’zinga, men o’z vazifamni bajarishim kerak!
Oldinroq ‘The designated Survivor’ filmini ko’rishni tavsiya qilgandim. Shu filmning bir qismida san’at maktabi o’qituvchisi prezidentga san’at sohasiga yetarlicha pul ajratilmayotgani uchun uning maktabi yopilishi mumkinligi haqida murojaat qiladi. Prezident huzuriga kongresmenni qabul qiladi va bu masalani ko’rib berishini va maktabga pul ajratib berishni so’raydi. Kongresmen esa hali byudjet taqsimoti vaqti kelmagani va bu ishni qilolmasligini aytadi. Prezident esa san’at ham muhim soha ekanligi va bu maktabni yopilishi yaxshi ish emasligini tushuntirmoqchi bo’ladi. Biroq kongressmen xalqning katta qismi byudjet asosan texnologiya va ilm-fanga sarflanishi tarafdori ekanligi va byudjet taqsimotida bu borada prezident bilan debatga tayyor ekanligini qat’iy takidlaydi. Eng qizig'i ikkala holatda ham korruptsiya va nepotizm alomatlari yo’q. Nima deb o’ylaysiz rostan ham Amerikada shunaqamikan?🤔
