Alternative medicine is becoming increasingly common acting as a replacement of conventional medicine. To decide whether it is positive or negative development, we need to have a closer look at the issue.
There are some advantages to relying on alternative medicine. First of all, by using the type of medicine that can replace mainstream medicine, people can raise their awareness of such area of medicine, which means they are not largely dependent on doctors. For example, people can cure some minor health issues such as headache or stomachache with the means of biological therapies applying plants or food to recover from illness. In such therapy, the medicine is produced using natural products which are considered free from chemical substances. This notion also makes alternative medicine more appealing to people. Furthermore, in some areas of the world, people have easy access and better expertise at applying complementary medicine than conventional one. Thus, the rise in substituting hospital visits for alternative treatment seems reasonable.
Nevertheless, not all forms of alternative treatment hold scientific evidence and are approved by standardized trial, meaning that negative side-effect consequences might be a serious concern for individuals exposed to alternative medicine. The science behind mainstream medicine, on the other hand, has proved to have an accurate approach. Standard medical care undergoes rigorous research and a product is not released until it is ensured that it is completely safe for peopleβs organism. Another issue with alternative treatment is such approaches are often carried out by non- qualified people who rely solely on their experience, which can also lead to counter- productive results.
In conclusion, in my view, although alternative medicine seems to offer some tangible benefits, the risks associated with that area are seemingly much higher and may pose a considerable threat to public health. Therefore, I believe it is not a positive shift in the society and consulting qualified and professional doctors when one has health issues seems more reasonable approach.

Well, I've enjoyed the discussion. We've had the students with different levels of English today. One thing I can say around 70% of the speakers have had the problems with the ideas. So for the next chat, I recommend the participants to get familiar with part 3 topics more broadly. Thank you.
