Announcement: Celebrating Inclusive Achievements!
We are delighted to announce a significant milestone at Hawassa University. Degefa Mekoro, an inspiring student with hearing impairment, has successfully defended his MA thesis in the Department of Special Needs and Inclusive Education on 05-06-2024. His thesis, titled "Educational and Teaching Materials Modification Challenges for Students with Hearing Impairment: The Case of Tabor Primary School in Hawassa Town Administration, Sidama Regional State," highlights the challenges and opportunities in creating accessible educational environments.
Degefa's success is a powerful testament to the potential of individuals with disabilities when they are provided with inclusive and supportive environments. His dedication and perseverance demonstrate that people with disabilities can achieve remarkable accomplishments when given the opportunity to participate fully in society. His research sheds light on the critical need for modifying educational materials to better serve students with hearing impairments, ultimately contributing to more inclusive educational practices.
This achievement would not have been possible without the invaluable support of the Department of Special Needs and Inclusive Education and the dedicated guidance of his advisor, Dr. Tesfaye Basha. Dr. Basha's commitment to overcoming barriers for people with disabilities and his unwavering patience have been instrumental in Degefa's journey.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Degefa Mekoro for his remarkable accomplishment and to the department for fostering an inclusive educational environment. This moment underscores the importance of inclusion in education and beyond.
