If you don’t want messages in your secret chats to hang around forever, Telegram lets you set self-destruct timers to permanently remove them. To lock your messages, go to “Settings”, “Privacy and Security” and tap on “Passcode Lock”. You will be asked to set a four-digit passcode and confirm it.
